Mr. Roy William Stone

Aiken, SC—A celebration of life service for Mr. Roy William Stone, age 76, will be held  Tuesday March 9, 2021 4:00 pm at Oak Grove Baptist Church with Pastor Bill Watkins officiating. Military Honors will be accorded at the church by the U.S. Army ceremonial team.  Interment will be private. A visitation will take place one hour prior to service at the church. Mr. Stone entered into rest  on March 5, 2021 at Charlie Norwood VA Medical Center in Augusta, GA. He was the beloved husband of 54 years to Mrs. Renata Duffie Stone and the son of the late Mr. Carl P. Stone and the late Mrs. Rose Ella Herron Stone Courtney. Mr. Stone was a native of Bamberg, SC, but had made Aiken his permanent residence since 1973. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Army having served in Vietnam, Germany, and Alaska. Mr. Stone was also the Vice Chancellor of the DAV (Disabled American Veterans). Mr. Stone had a love for many things and enjoyed having a good time. He loved playing cards, fishing, watching westerns, watching golf, eating Little Debbie cakes, and spoiling his grandchildren. His favorite football team was the Atlanta Falcons. Mr. Stone was a member of Oak Grove Baptist church, where he served as a deacon. He was loved and respected by many. Mr. Stone would help everyone he met and would give the shirt off his back. He was known as a jokester and had made everyone laugh. People also knew him by his greeting with a firm handshake. He will be extremely  missed by his family and friends. Additional survivors include: one son Daniel Stone, Augusta; one daughter Rhonda (Gene) Frazier, Hephzibah; three brothers Jerry (Donnette) Stone, Aiken, Frank “Pete” (Judy) Stone, Aiken, and Jack (Jennifer) Stone, Aiken; one sister Sara Mae Parrish, Aiken; five grandchildren Jonathan “Ross” Stone, Aiken, Hannah Adkinson, Aiken, Maria Adkinson, Hephzibah, Caleb Frazier, Hephzibah, and Emily Adkinson, Clemson; and several nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, the family has suggested that memorials be made to DAV Chapter 43 2149 Columbia Highway N Aiken, SC 29805.
