Betty Jane Landrum Egge

July 26, 1930 — October 11, 2021

Betty Landrum Egge peacefully passed away on October 11, 2021 after a brief illness.  Betty was a resident at HarborChase Senior Assisted Living facility since July 2020.

Betty Egge was born in Pensacola, Florida on July 26, 1930, the daughter of William E. Landrum and Gladys E. (Martin) Landrum.  Betty had three older brothers who predeceased her: William Landrum, Jr; Lyman Landrum; and, Robert Keith Landrum.

Betty graduated from Pensacola High School in 1948, then married Gene Egge in 1949.  Betty and Gene had three children:  William L. Egge, Robert W. Egge; and, Richard A. Egge (deceased).

Betty and her children faithfully accompanied her U.S. Air Force husband through a myriad of military assignments.  Residencies included: Destin, Florida; Chateauroux, France; West Palm Beach, Florida; Washington D.C.; Clovis, New Mexico; Waco, Texas; Hampton, Virginia; Tokyo, Japan; Honolulu, Hawaii; Macon, Georgia; Tampa, Florida; and, Oxon Hill, Maryland.

Betty divorced in 1979 and never remarried.  Throughout her military assignments, Betty was employed in the Civil Service starting as a data keypunch operator and progressing through various administrative positions ending up as a C-17 Program Budget Analyst at the Pentagon.  She took a subsequent posting to Headquarters US Air Force Europe until her retirement from Civil Service in 1992.  Over her career, Betty received numerous awards and special recognition for her superior professional performance and attention to detail.

After retirement, Betty settled in Baltimore, Maryland, then moved to Northfield, New Hampshire in 1999.  While in New Hampshire, Betty was very active in the Andover Lions Club.  In 2018, Betty relocated to Aiken, South Carolina.

Betty had an adventurous spirit and travelled extensively.  After retirement from Civil Service, Betty was a travel agent while living in Maryland.  Betty was an avid reader and enjoyed working crossword puzzles.

Betty was predeceased by her son, Richard Egge, and granddaughter, Tracy Egge.  Betty is survived by her other two sons and wives, William and Joyce Egge of Aiken, SC; and, Robert and Ella Egge of Arbutus, MD; her three granddaughters, Sonya Ellis of Edmond, OK, Jennifer Egge of Portland, OR, and Lindsey Egge of Portland, OR; and, four great-grandchildren, Matthew Sporn of Norman, OK, Mackenzie Sporn of Moore, OK, Austin Egge-Ellis of Edmond, OK, and Kaylee Ellis of Edmond, OK.

A private service will be held at a later date.
