In Loving Memory of William Derwood JohnsonFebruary 13, 1939 – October 4, 2025

Our beloved William Durwood Johnson ascended to heaven on October 4, 2025, at the age of 86. A devoted husband, cherished father, proud grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend, William lived a full and meaningful life grounded in love, and hard work,

Born on February 13, 1939, to Harvey C. and Lucille Singletary Johnson, William was raised with strong family values that guided him throughout his life. He is survived by his loving wife of many years, Marilyn Joyce (Lukosh) Johnson, and their four children: Vickie Joyce LuVisi, Debbie Dee (Daniel) Te Braak, William Durwood (Mary) Johnson Jr., and Cindy Lucille Harris.

William was a proud grandfather to Leah LuVisi, Dustin LuVisi, William D. Johnson III, Savannah Harris, Samantha (Jesus) Molina, Sheri Johnson, Josh Risenhoover, and Mai Brown; and a great-grandfather to four precious great-grandchildren.

He is also survived by his brother James M. (Gladys) Johnson; sisters Cathy (Kenneth) Riggs and Mary Hunt Miller; and sister-in-law Patricia Johnson. William was preceded in death by his parents, Harvey and Lucille; his brothers Harvey (Fannie) Johnson, Carl G. Johnson, Jerry Wayne (Helen) Johnson, Joe Spivey; sister Martha (John) Holer; brother-in-law Dennis Miller; and his father and mother-in-law, Stanley and Victoria Lukosh.

William, affectionately known as "Bill" by many, spent the better part of his life working with his hands, especially on cars—a true mechanic at heart. He also worked as a skilled crane operator and was a proud member of the International Union of Operating Engineers (Locals 612 and 470). A dedicated worker, his talents and work ethic left a lasting mark on all who knew him.

A proud veteran, William honorably served in the Army of the United States. His love for his country was only matched by his love for his family.

In his leisure time, William enjoyed the quiet simplicity of life—watching westerns on television, feeding the wild birds in his yard, and most of all, spending time with his grandchildren, who brought him immeasurable joy.

William Durwood Johnson leaves behind a legacy of strength, devotion, and quiet kindness. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege to know and love him.

A service to celebrate William’s life will be held 2:00 pm Saturday October 11, 2025 at Cole Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Butch Blackwell officiating.
