A celebration of life service for Mr. Thomas Edward Mayle U.S. Air Force Retired, age 86 will be held 1:00 pm Thursday August 26, 2021 at Clear Water Branch Baptist Church, Aiken with Pastor Mike Catoe officiating. Interment will follow in the Church cemetery with full military honors accorded by the U.S. Air Force Ceremonial Team. Mr. Mayle entered into rest peacefully surrounded by his family on Sunday August 22, 2021. He was a native of Grafton, West Virginia and had made Aiken his home for the past 39 years, and was the beloved husband of Mrs. Mary Day Mayle and a son of the late Mr. Clifford Mayle and the late Mrs. Lavina Mayle. Mr. Mayle was a veteran of the Vietnam War having served in the U.S. Air Force and retired in 1974 as a SSGT after 20 years of service for his country. When Mr. Mayle retired from the Air Force he went to the Ford Motor Company and worked there in security for 6 years. Mr. and Mrs. Mayle moved to Aiken in 1982 and he became employed by the S.C. Department of Corrections as a Detention Officer for 20 years retiring in 1992. Mr. Mayle was a member of Red Patches when stationed in the Philippines, the American Legion Post # 636 in Aiken and an active member of Clear Water Branch Baptist Church, Aiken. Mr. Mayle enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, and most of all his family. Additional survivors include: four sons Ronald Edward (Rita) Mayle, Winter Haven, FL, Richard Lee (Cindy) Mayle, Aiken, Stephen Leroy (Felicia) Mayle, Aiken, and Gregory Eugene Mayle, Aiken; one daugher Sandra Mayle (Ronny) Brown, West Columbia; nine grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews in West Virginia and Ohio. Pallbearers will be Ryan Jackson, Cliff Mayle, Lee Mayle, Steve Mayle, Rick Mayle, Ron Mayle, Greg Mayle, Ryan Brown, and Chris Black. A visitation will take place one hour before the service at Clear Water Branch Baptist Church. Due to the rise of Covid cases, the family has requested for masks to be worn and social distancing to be observed. The service will be live streamed on the Cole Funeral Facebook page. In lieu of flowers, the family has suggested that memorials be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children 950 W Faris Rd, Greenville, SC 29605.
