Mrs. Sylvia Stokes Fulghum

Aiken, SC-- A celebration of life service for Mrs. Sylvia Stokes Fulghum, age 91, will be held 3:00 p.m. Sunday September 13, 2026 at Lighthouse Baptist Church with Rev. Marion Britton officiating. Mrs. Fulghum entered into rest on August 30, 2026 at Pruitt Health Aiken. She was born in Aiken, SC to the late Mr. Cleburn Stokes and the late Mrs. Eunice Redd Stokes. Mrs. Fulghum worked for Aiken Fiberglass for 26 years until she retired in 1983. She was a member of Lighthouse Baptist Church and enjoyed attending the adult Sunday school class. Mrs. Fulghum loved to go to church, traveling, and the beach. She will be missed dearly by her family and friends. Survivors include: one son Joe Carpenter, Aiken; one brother Cleburn Stokes Jr., Jacksonville, FL; one sister Cortell; two grandchildren Marsha Sheldon and Sylvia (Sam) Swearingen; seven great grandchildren; and three additional great- great grandchildren China Lynn Hartley, Samantha Swearingen, and Jessica Swearingen. She was preceded in death by two sons Gordon Eugene Carpenter II and Curtis Toby Carpenter; three sisters Kitty Williams, Daisy, and Theresa Jackson; and two grandchildren Bruce and Wess Houston. A visitation with the family will take place following the service. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to Lighthouse Baptist Church.
