Mr. Samuel Blount "Sam" Parker

Aiken, SC--A celebration of life service for Mr. Samuel Blount "Sam" Parker age 86, will be held 2:00 pm Thursday May 11, 2017 at Cole Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Brandon Key and Chaplain Dexter Lambert officiating.  Interment will be held private at a later date in Aiken Memorial Park.  Mr. Parker was the beloved husband of 30 years to Mrs. Mary Mathews Parker and was a son of a former Pastor at Shiloh Baptist Church, Aiken,  the late Rev. Joe Coleman Parker and the late Mrs. Sarah Duncan Parker.  Sam entered into rest at his residence Monday May 8, 2017 surrounded by his family.  He was a native of Ila, GA and had made Aiken County his home for the past 65 years.   He retired in 1990  as an E&I Mechanic at the Savannah River Plant and was a veteran of the Korean Conflict in the U.S. Army.  Sam was a member of Graniteville Church of God. Sam developed a love for the mountains and would go there often to relax.  He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.  Additional survivors include two sons Ron (Rhonda) Parker, Aiken, David (Kim) Parker, Aiken, three step sons Kevin (Tina) Barron, Aiken, Chris Barron, Aiken, Brian (Melinda) Barron, Aiken; eleven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.  Sam was predeceased by his first wife Ruth Gunter Parker, two brothers, Ruben, Joe Parker, one sister, Ealmer Parker Fitzpatrick.
