Ruth M. Kunstman

Ruth Marie Kunstman, nee Schwellensattl, 95, of Aiken, SC, passed away January 31, 2019 at Trinity on Laurens, Aiken, SC.

Ruth was born November 7, 1923 in East St. Louis, IL.  She was employed as a bookkeeper with the USO in Colorado Springs and later with Cunard Line in St. Louis until 1963 when she ‘retired’ to stay home and raise a family.  She was a member of First United Presbyterian Church, Belleville, IL.

Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Donald, her parents, Herman and Edna, nee Deutschmann, Schwellensattl, and her brother, Ralph Clinton.

Surviving are her brother, Harold Clinton, O’Fallon, IL, a daughter, Karen (Kevin) Tempel of Aiken, SC, a son, Kevin (Jennifer) Kunstman of Darien, IL, six grandchildren, Melissa (Rick) Turpin, Kristin (Greg) Tempel, Kaitlyn, Kyle, Samantha and Nathan Kunstman, two great-grandsons, James and Liam Turpin, and a third great-grandchild who is due any day.

A lifelong resident of Illinois, Ruth relocated to Aiken, SC upon the death of her husband in 2010.  The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff of Trinity on Laurens for the love and care they have shown over the past 8 ½ years and to Regency Hospice for their excellent care.

In lieu of a service, and in memory of Ruth’s love of adventure, the family suggests going on a hike or otherwise enjoying the great outdoors.
