Rodney Lacey Boatwright, Sr.

Aiken, SC—A celebration of life service for Mr. Rodney “Big Rod” Lacey Boatwright, Sr., age 82, will be held 3:00 pm on Sunday August 2, 2026, at Redd's Branch Baptist Church with Rev. Richard McWhite officiating. Interment will follow in the Redd's Branch Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Bryson Boatwright, Clint Chapman, Cameron Chapman, Nicholas Chapman, David Harley, and Mike Fourroux. Mr. Boatwright entered into rest on Thursday July 30, 2026, at his residence. He was the beloved husband for 65 years to Mrs. Linda Booth Boatwright and the son to the late Mr. Lacey J. Boatwright and the late Mrs. Lois A. Plunkett Boatwright. Mr. Boatwright was a native and lifelong resident of the Aiken area. He was of the Baptist faith and a member of Redd's Branch Baptist Church. Mr. Boatwright was the owner and operator of B&B Glass and Paint for 50 years, having been established in 1976. His hobbies included tractors, horses, peddling, and classic cars. Mr. Boatwright and his wife also enjoyed many years in their mountain house Saluda, NC. He was loved by his friends and family and will be deeply missed. Additional survivors include: one son Rodney “Lil’ Rod” Boatwright, Jr., Ridge Spring, SC; one daughter Jeannie Chapman, Aiken; and adopted son David Harley; two brothers Bruce (Kathy) Boatwright and Wallace (and the late Anne) Boatwright; six grandchildren, six great grandchildren; and special friends Joanne Harley, David and Pam Haney, Marna Hernandez, and Mike Strauss. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorials be made to Redd's Branch Baptist Church general funds 390 Redds Branch Rd. Aiken, SC 29801 or the American Cancer Society.
