Mr. Robert William Church

Aiken, SC—A celebration of life service will be held 1:00 pm Saturday February 25, 2023 at Cole Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dewayne Anderson officiating. Interment will follow in Graniteville Cemetery. Mr. Church entered into rest Thursday February 16, 2023 at his residence surrounded by his family. He was a native of Martinsburg, West Virginia and had made Aiken County his home for the past 36, years. Mr. Church was the beloved husband of 51 years to Mrs. Patricia “Pat” Breeden Church and a son of the late Mr. Robert Leonard Church and the late Mrs. Wanda Dyche Church. His first employment was with McCrory’s Department Store in Martinsburg, WV at the age of 16 and was there for 6 years before moving on to work for Southern States Gas Company  in Martinsburg, WV for 2 years. Mr. Church went to E.I. Du Pont de Nemours and Company in  Bennington, WV and was there for 10 years before moving to Aiken, SC and resuming his employment with E.I. Du Pont as a Control Room Operator and retiring from the Savannah River Plant after 16 years of service.  Mr. Church enjoyed 4 years of service with NAPPA Auto Parts on E. Pine Long Road as a parts deliverer. His hobbies included collecting guns, target shooting, cars and reading. Additional survivors include two sons, Robert Jason Church, Aiken, Patrick D. Prine, St. Matthews; three daughters, Amber (Wayne) Adams, Aiken, Megan Elizabeth (Justin) Vaughters, St. Matthews, Amanda Kathleen (Keith) Gordon, Beech Island; one brother, Carl Wayne Church, Martinsburg, WV; eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews. Mr. Church was predeceased by one daughter, Melody Wolf. Pallbearers will be Keith Gordon, Wayne Adams, Patrick Prine, Justin Vaughters, Dustin Church, and Eric Winum. Honorary pallbearers are Daniel Wolf, and Carl Church. In lieu of flowers the family has suggested that donations be made to the National Pancreatic Cancer Foundation at www.npch.us.
