Mr. Richard Alan Waide

Aiken—A celebration of life service for Mr. Richard Alan Waide, age 71, will be held 2:00 pm Wednesday, May 21, 2014 at Grace Covenant Church of God, New Ellenton, SC with Rev. Edgar N. Foster, Sr. officiating.  Interment will follow in Aiken Memorial Park with military honors accorded by the U.S. Army, Ft. Jackson. SC.

Mr. Waide was a native of Chicago, IL and had made Aiken County his home for the past 35 years. He was the beloved husband of 51 years to Mrs. Patty Arrington Waide and son the late Mr. Walter Lewis Waide, Sr. and the late Mrs. Fern Helen LaMarch Waide.

Mr. Waide was an Authorized OSHA Out Reach Trainer from Georgia Tech.  He with WSO/CST (World Safety Organization/Certified Safety Technician with 25 years of service. He owned and operated  Safety First  for over 15 years.  Mr. Waide was also a first responder with  the New Ellenton Fire Department and was a master plumber.   Mr. Waide was an active member of Grace Covenant Church of God where he was a member of the Sanctuary Sunday School Class, was on the Building Committee that built the present structure. He  taught Sunday School class for many years throughout his life.

Additional survivors include one son, Ray Alan (Karen) Waide, Sr., Aiken; two daughters, Tammy Waide (Bobby) Worley, and Marian Waide (Hugh) Ray, Aiken; one brother, Bruce (Karen) Waide, Petersburg, IL; one sister, Ione Waide, Lexington; eight grandchildren, Nina Broach, Ryan Noel, Ray Alan Waide, Jr., Taylor Walls, Lauren Paige Ray, Joshua Ray, Ronald Ray, Tasha Lindsey; ten great grand children; three sister-in-laws, Shirley Waide, Donna Waide both of Petersburg, IL, Margie (The Late Sidney) McWilliams, Jacksonville, FL, a brother-in-law, George H. (Diane) Arrington, Augusta, GA.   Mr. Waide was predeceased by two brothers, Micheal Waide and Walter Sonny Waide, Jr.; his father-in-law, George H. Arrington, Sr. and mother-in-law, Merline Williams Arrington.

Pallbearers will be his grandsons:  Ray Alan Waide, Jr., Brandon Walls, Chuck Broach, Barrett Noel, Ronnie Ray, and Joshua Ray.
