Rev. Leo Wood
Aiken—A celebration of life service for Rev. Leo Wood age 67 will be held 11:00 am Tuesday, November 18, 2014 at Bethel Baptist Church with Rev. James Robert Sharpe, Rev. Brancie Stephens, Sister Marie Snipes officiating. Interment will follow in Graniteville Cemetery with full Military Honors accorded by the United States Army Ceremonial team.
Rev. Wood was a native and a life long resident of Aiken County. He was the beloved husband of the late Mrs. Anne Marie Scott Wood, and son of the late Mr. Homer B. Wood and the late Mrs. Mary Gunter Wood. Rev. Wood served as Pastor of Unity Holiness Church before retiring after 15 years where he organized a monthy food bank for the Aiken and Jackson areas which provided more than 60 meals a week as well and clothing and toys. He was a retired truck driver for over 25 years for several companies. He was the associate chaplain for the Faith Riders and served in the United States Army.
Additional survivors include one son, James (April) Wood, Wagener; five daughters, Melanie Boatner, Aiken, Pamela Ann (Bradley) Brooks, North Augusta, Cynthia (David) Phillips, Franklin Springs, GA, Margaret Vargas, Aiken, Lisa Marie (Scott) Hobbs, North Carolina; two brothers, Larry Wood, and Randy Wood both of Aiken, two sisters, Margurrite Jones, Aiken, Gloria Taylor, Warrenville; fifteen grandchildren and twelve great grand children. Rev. Wood was predeceased by one brother, Almon B. Wood, two sisters, Louise A. Wood, and Judith Kinkle.
Pallbearers will be the United States Army.
