Mrs. Phyllis Casamassina Colacurcio

Ridge Spring, SC--Mrs. Phyllis Casamassina Colacurcio, age 69, entered into rest Wednesday June 17, 2026. She was the beloved wife of 50 years to Mr. Anthony G. Colacurcio, and mother to son Anthony V. and daughter, Dawn.

Phyllis was a daughter of the late Mr. Vito Casamassina and the late Mrs. Dorothy Rougeau Casamassina. Born in New York, New York to a large family of 13 children, Phyllis spent her adolescent and young adult life in New Jersey.

After a romantic vacation to Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, the young Colacurcio family relocated from New Jersey to Ridge Spring, South Carolina in 1987. In the years since, various family and friends have followed the Colacurcio family down to the sunny south where they remained close, creating shared memories of love and laughter.

Phyllis retired after 20 years of service with Aiken Barnwell Mental Health. She was a former member of St. Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church, Aiken.

During her time off and throughout retirement, Phyllis enjoyed camping and playing cards with her family and friends. As a member of the Women's Bowling League in Aiken, Phyllis delighted in competitive hobbies.

To relax, Phyllis could often be found crocheting baby blankets, baking desserts, watching soap operas and competition shows, and playing online games. Though she lovingly owned a few dogs and cats, her favorite animal was the gorilla.

Above all, Phyllis cherished quality time with her family and the friends who felt like family. She never met a stranger and brought a smile to everyone she met. She listened with compassion, shared with honesty, and laughed with abandon – without fail.

Survivors include husband, Anthony G. Colacurcio, one son Anthony V. (Erin) Colacurcio, Charlotte, NC; one daughter, Dawn (Mike) Pace, Batesburg; five grandchildren, Lexi (Daniel), Jay II (Emily), Maryann, Caroline, Giuliana; two great grandchildren, Leila and Jay III. She is also survived by several nephews and nieces and great nephews and nieces. She will be missed by many.

Phyllis loved birthdays. She would be the first to call her family every year on their birthday and sing them “Happy Birthday”. To honor her and her wonderful life, there will be a Celebration of Life the weekend of her 70th birthday.
