Mr. Oscar Lee Norton,
A celebration of life service will be held 12:00 noon Friday June 23, 2023 at Cole Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Brancie Stephens officiating with military honors accorded by the U.S. Army ceremonial team. Interment will take place at 2:00 pm Wednesday, June 28, 2023 at Fort Jackson National Cemetery, Fort Jackson, SC. Mr. Norton entered into rest Saturday June 17, 2023 at PruittHealth-Aiken. He was the husband of the late Mrs. May Jean Averett Norton and a son of the late Mr. Jesse Lee Norton and the late Mrs. Ruby Louise James Norton. Mr. Norton was born in Wrens, GA and had made Aiken County his home since 1985. He retired in 2005 from the R.E. Phelon Plant in Aiken with 20 years of service. Mr. Norton was a member of Rocky Springs Baptist Church in Aiken County and was an avid UGA football fan along with WWE wrestling and watching hours upon hours of westerns on the Television. Mr. Norton was a veteran of the Vietnam war having served in the U.S. States Army. Survivors include one daughter Faith Marie Norton Morris, Harlem, GA, sister, Betty Taylor, Wrens, GA; a step son, Bill (Robin) Prescott, Hephzibah, GA; three step daughters, Debra Barfield, Aiken, Brenda Ard, Aiken, and Shirley (Eddie) Yassney, Grovetown, GA; a step grand daughter, Shelly Riley, Trenton, SC, and one niece Ann Marie Norton Worley, Augusta, GA. Mr. Norton was predeceased by three brothers, Tommy, Larry, and James Norton, one sister, Lora Dell Brown. Pallbearers will be Thomas Fisher, Jesse Riley, Lonnie Riley, Timothy Baker, and Robert Fisher. In lieu of flowers the family has asked that donations be made to the American Cancer Society at www.cancer.org.
