Lake Murray, SC--A celebration of life service for Mr. Oakley Brooks Snipes age 85 will be held 3:00 pm Friday September 7, 2018 at Shiloh Baptist Church with Rev. Jerry Brunson and Rev. Joseph Hallman officiating.  Interment will follow in the church cemetery.  Mr. Snipes entered into rest Tuesday September 4, 2018 at his residence.  He was a native of Aiken County, SC and had lived most all of his life in Aiken. Mr. Snipes then moved up to his Lake Murray Home in Saluda in 1987. He was the beloved husband of the late Mrs. Doris Day Snipes and a son of the late Mr. Robert Snipes and the late Mrs. Inez Gardner Snipes.  Mr. Snipes had retired in 1995 after 33 years of service as an electrician with Mt. Vernon Mills, Johnston, SC.  Mr. Snipes was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church and was an avid fisherman and hunter.  Survivors include one son, Oakley A. (Celena) Snipes, Aiken; one daughter, Marsha Snipes, Lake Murray; one brother, Robert "Pete" (Veronica) Snipes, Texas; three sisters, Barbara Ann Whitworth, Aiken, Dorothy (Clyde) Condrey, Aiken, Fannie Dubose, Aiken; two grandsons, Devin Robertson, Oakley G. Snipes and four great grandchildren.  Mr. Snipes was also predeceased by one daughter, Mary Elizabeth Snipes, three brothers, Calvin, Charles, and David Snipes, four sisters, Mary Stephens, Brenda Hall, Agnes Franklin and Emma "Polly" Snipes. Pallbearers will be Bill Singley, Jody Harmon, Devin Robertson, Maynard Proctor, Jarred Willis, and Oakley G. Snipes. In lieu of flowers the family has suggested that memorials be made to Shiloh Baptist Church, 3925 Shiloh Church Road, Aiken, SC, 29805 or to Celebration Church 1765 Batesburg HWY Batesburg, SC 29006.
