Mr. Michael Rufus Cowart

Jackson, SC—A celebration of life service for Mr. Michael Rufus Cowart, age 69, will be held 3:00 pm on Monday September 28, 2026, at Cole Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Rick Lee officiating. Mr. Cowart entered into rest on Saturday September 19, 2026. He was the beloved husband of 36 years to Mrs. Lisa Loraine Wiggins Cowart and a son to Mrs. Barbara Zorn Cowart and the late Mr. Rufus Cowart. Mr. Cowart was a native and lifelong resident of the CSRA. He was of the Baptist faith and was a member of Matlock Baptist Church. Mr. Cowart was a freemason and was a member of the Hopewell Masonic Lodge No. 127 A.F.M. He was a true outdoorsman, spending time deer hunting, fishing, and collecting guns. He loved sports, and coached for his sons' t-ball team and attended all of their sporting events. Mr. Cowart also enjoyed watching the Georgia Bulldogs. When he was able, he enjoyed working on his family farm. Most of all, he loved spending time with his grandchildren any chance he got. He was loved by his friends and family and will be deeply missed. Additional survivors include: two sons Troy (Chessney) Cowart, Windsor, SC, and Tyler (Kellie) Cowart, Aiken, SC; one brother Greg (Mary) Cowart, Hephizibah, GA; and two grandchildren Emmaline Cowart and Corbin Cowart.
