Mr. Matthew Preston “Matt” Baugus

Wagener, SC--A celebration of life service for Mr. Matthew Preston Baugus age 27 will be held 4:00 pm Friday April 7, 2017 at Bethcar Baptist Church, Wagener with Rev. Chris Addy officiating.  Interment will follow in the Church Cemetery.  Matthew entered peacefully into rest Monday April 3, 2017 at Aiken Regional Medical Centers surrounded by his family after his battle with cancer. He was born in Columbia and has made Aiken County his home for the past 22 years.  Matthew was the beloved husband of 4 years to Mrs. Jessica Bodie Baugus, and his two sons, Shane and Blake,  Wagener, and a son of Mr. Harold Baugus and Mrs. Christie Seigler Baugus of  Wagener.  Matthew was a 2008 graduate of Wagener Salley High School. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and was a CDL Driver for AB Beverage in Aiken until his illness.   Matthew was an active volunteer Fireman with the New Holland Fire Department and obtained the rank of Sergeant.  He drove engine 185 and was very proud to be in a position  of service. Matthew was a member of Bethcar Baptist Church and the Young Adults Sunday school class.  He will be greatly missed by all the lives he touch.  Additional survivors include five brothers, Brandon Smith, NC, Will Baugus, TX, Shane Baugus, SC, Tristen Baugus, SC, and Kevin Shelley, Aiken.  Pallbearers will be Kevin Shelley, Bill Rodgers, Shane Baugus, Kenny Reynolds, Mark Allen, Matthew Johnson, Tristen Baugus. Honorary pallbearers will be the New Holland Fire Department and all Aiken County Fire Departments.  In lieu of flowers the family would like memorials be made to the New Holland Fire Department, P.O.
