Miss Lillian Louise “Weezie” Cunningham MSGT SC Air National Guard Ret.


March 17, 1948- January 19, 2023

Eastover, SC—Miss Cunningham, age 74 passed unexpectedly at her home Thursday, January 19, 2023.  She was a lifelong resident of Eastover and a daughter of the late Mr. William G. Cunningham and the late Mrs. Teresa Claffy Cunningham.  A Mass of Christian Burial will take place 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 30, 2023 at St. Joseph Catholic Church on Devine Street in Columbia, SC with the Rev. MSGR Richard D. Harris V.G., celebrant. A private burial will take place at Ft. Jackson National Cemetery.  Miss Cunningham spent 6 years in active duty in the U.S. Army, then 20 years in the SC Air National Guard McEntire Joint National Guard Base in Columbia, SC retaining the rank of MSGT. She also retired from Westinghouse after 30 years in AFIB.  Miss Cunningham was a communicant of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Columbia where she was an active member of the St. Joseph’s Women’s Society and the Shepherd’s Center of Sumter.  She enjoyed the fellowship of the bible study class of Alice Drive Baptist Church.  Survivors include one sister, Mrs. Ann (Jerry) Funderburk, Eastover; many nieces, nephews, grand nieces and nephews and one great grandnephew that will miss her hugs and laugher. Miss Cunningham was predeceased by one brother, William Gilbert Cunningham, Jr.  The family would like donations made to the Humane Society, 405 Greenlawn Drive, Columbia, SC 29209 in her name.  Her close friend Bonnie Chambers has Weezie’s pups Hartsy and Colby.  A visitation with the family will take place at St. Joseph’s following the service.  COLE FUNERAL HOME 1544 UNIVERSITY PARKWAY (118 BYPASS) AIKEN SC is in charge of all services.  Please sign the online registry at
