Mr. Lewis Carl Hoy
Aiken, SC—A celebration of life service for Mr. Lewis Carl Hoy, age 82, will be held 10:30 am on Saturday September 5, 2026, at St. John's Methodist Church with Rev. Butch Blackwell officiating. A luncheon will follow at the church. Mr. Hoy entered into rest on Monday August 31, 2026, at Aiken Regional Medical Centers. He was the beloved husband of 32 years to Mrs. Phillis Clara Hoy and a son to the late Mr. Carl Hoy and the late Mrs. Ellen Petro Hoy. Mr. Hoy was born in Columbus, IN, but had made the Aiken area his home since 2011. He was of the Methodist faith and a member of St. John's Methodist Church. He was a designer/draftsman, and was employed and retired from Detroit Diesel Allison Division and Cummins Engine Company. Mr. Hoy had a passion for cars. He was part of the Aiken Car Club, and also drove his '57 Chevy from Ft. Myers, FL all the way to Alaska. He and his wife traveled to 48 of the states. Mr. Hoy enjoyed fishing, golf, and was a jack of all trades. He especially loved mentoring people, passing on his knowledge and experience to others. Lew loved his cigars and enjoyed going to his “Cigar Bar” with all of his car friends. He was loved by his friends and family and will be deeply missed. Additional survivors include: three daughters Michelle Rushalk, Columbus, IN, Lizabeth Vickers, Hillsborough, NC, and Jill Hoy (Elizabeth Bowles) Fletcher, NC; one son David Hoy, Columbus, IN; one step-daughter Kimberly Bieker, Minneapolis, MN; two sisters Debby Estes, Columbus, IN, and Denise Whitis, Ft. Lauderdale, FL; eleven grandchildren; four great grandchildren; many beloved nieces and nephews; and his beloved dogs Calli and Lexi. Mr. Hoy was preceded in death by his brother Jim Hoy and two brothers-in-law Neil Estes and Bill Whitis. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorials be made to a charity of your choosing.
