Mr. Jones Ray Williford, Master Sergeant U.S. Army Retired
New Holland—A celebration of life service for Mr. Jones Ray Williford, Master Sergeant U.S. Army Retired will be held 1:00 pm Saturday, July 16, 2016 at Rocky Springs Baptist Church with Rev. Wayne Whaley officiating. Interment will follow in New Holland Cemetery with full Military honors accorded by the U.S. Army Ceremonial Team. Mr. Williford will be placed in the church one hour prior to service.
Mr. Williford entered into rest Wednesday, July 13, 2016.  He was the beloved husband of 52 years to Mrs. Clarence Mae Elizabeth “Liz” Matthews Williford and a son of the late Mr. Lindsey Brooks Williford and the late Mrs. Myrtle Todd Williford.  Mr. Williford was a native of Portal, GA and had made Aiken County his home for the past 44 yrs.  Mr. Williford was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and the U.S. Army.  Mr. Williford started his career in the Army at the Army Reserve on Whiskey Road, Aiken, SC., then was stationed at the Pentagon for several years before returning to South Carolina and stationed at Fort Jackson, SC. He retired in 1991 as Master Sergeant in the U.S. Army after 22 years of service to his country.  Mr. Williford attended Rocky Springs Baptist Church.
Additional survivors include one son, Mike (Ashley) Williford, New Holland; one daughter, Dana (Clay) Stalnaker, Pelion; one brother, Ralph (Lora) Williford, Metter, GA; two sisters, Mildred Akins, New Ellenton, Gladys Marks, Ellabell, GA; a sister-in-law, Shelby Williford, Statesboro, GA; three grandchildren, Austin Williford, Alissa Stalnaker, and Brooke Stalnaker.  Mr. Williford was predeceased by one brother, R.V. Williford, and one sister, Ollie Ruth Deal.
Serving as pallbearers at the church will be his nephews, Mark Sturkie, Derrick Sturkie, Chris Sturkie, Clifford Enlow, Ricky Enlow, Clint Matthews, Chad Matthews, Shane Cole, Justin Enlow, and Joseph Enlow.
Memorials may be made to Rocky Springs Baptist Church, New Holland Road, Aiken, SC 29805 or to Helping Hand of Aiken 100 John Elliott Lane, Aiken, SC 29801.
