John Brian Sommers

August 17, 1965 – December 8, 2025 John Brian Sommers, age 60, of Aiken, SC, passed away on December 8, 2025, after battling various health issues for several years. Brian was born on August 17, 1965, in Canton, Ohio, to Levi & Nora Sommers. Since then, he has lived in California, Florida, Colorado, North Carolina, and South Carolina. Surviving are his wife of 20 years, Lillie (Hochstetler) Sommers; his father, Levi Sommers; three aunts – Martha Gingerich of NC, Ruby (Aden) Miller of OH, and Rachel (Paul) Miller of OH; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother and several aunts and uncles. Through the years, Brian enjoyed many interests, including singing in a youth choir, playing double bass in several orchestras, playing bongo drums in church, collecting cameras & taking photos, participating in a writer’s club with poems & short stories, painting & teaching abstract art as a member of the Holmes County Art Group, and flying with a flight simulator group. On May 9, 2005, Brian married Lillie Hochstetler, daughter of Bill & Ruby Hochstetler. He was a roof and floor truss designer for many years, often being able to work from home. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 13, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at the Midland Valley Community Church of the Nazarene, located at 3526 Jefferson Davis Highway, Graniteville, SC 29829.
