Mrs. Joan Joyce Allen Caldon
Aiken-Entered into rest Thursday March 30, 2017 at Pruitt Health Aiken, Mrs. Joan Joyce Allen Caldon age 83 after a long struggle with Alzheimer's disease. Mrs. Caldon was the wife of the late Mr. William J. Caldon, Sr. and a daughter of the late Mr. Richard Burton and the late Mrs. Mildred Elizabeth Allen. She was a native of Renton, Washington and had made Aiken her home for the past 44 years. Mrs. Caldon was a loving wife and a caring mother, her life positively affected all those it touched. Open and giving, believing all are equal, she was a role model without trying to be. Joan loved to travel and socialize, yet sufficient in self was just as content to curl up with a good book. An avid gardener, she reveled in the endless variety in nature. From a youth just a little bit wild, to wisdom in maturity, the evolution of a life in full. The light in the world is not diminished now that her candle has burned out, for it has lit a thousand others throughout the arc of a life well-lived. She attended New Covenant Presbyterian Church, Aiken. Survivors include four sons, Tracy (Amy) Dahl, Weston, Colorado, Bill (Darlyn) Caldon, Columbia, Bruce (Sheila) Caldon, Aiken, Robert (Tonya) Caldon, Aiken; four daughters, Darlyn (Bill) Caldon, Columbia, Deborah Dahl, War Trace, Tennessee, Sandra (Jeff) Stewart, Aiken, Suanne (Bruce) Sheppard, Aiken; one brother, Stan Allen, Morganton, GA; one sister, Dorothy Allen, Glidden, Wisconsin; five grandchildren, and three great grandchildren. Mrs. Caldon was also predeceased by one daughter, Shari Caldon. Service and burial will take place at a later date.
