His family takes comfort knowing that he is now reunited in eternal rest with his beloved wife of 63 years, Pauline Nash.

Jimmy joined the US Army in 1955 serving in Battery C, 50th AAA Battalion and was a Korean War Veteran leaving the military in 1958. He was a proud supporter of, as he put it, “the boys fighting in the war and for our country”.

Following the war, he began his career as a mechanic and tractor operator, and his work included logging and well drilling. He was also proud to have worked on the grading and grassing of the major interstates in South Carolina. Later he started a business with his family “Farrer and Sons Landscaping” that included his sons, daughter, and grandchildren.

He enjoyed surprising his wife with trips to the mountains. He loved fishing the Savannah River and Santee Cooper Reservoir. He especially loved staying up all night cooking a pig on an open pit over hickory coals for a grand time with his family with a little ‘stretched story’ here and there. An animal lover at heart, he cherished his dogs throughout his life. Additionally, there are many stories of how he loved helping others around him and in the community.

Jimmy was outgoing and never met a stranger. He enjoyed talking with others, picking and cutting up, and having fun with lots of laughs.

He is survived by his loving children: Karen (Gene) Fox of Aiken, Dennis (Gina) Farrer of North Augusta, Mike Farrer of Vaucluse, and Dale (Heather) Farrer of Aiken, and his seven grandchildren Ashley Green, Austin (Randi) Bouknight, Justin (Hannah) Farrer, Cassidy (Kameron) Stampley, Josh (Ashley) Farrer, TJ (Jennifer) Farrer, and Tyler (Grayson) Farrer and 8 great grandchildren Nathan Bouknight, Molly Bouknight, Luke Farrer, Kayden Stampley, Grady Farrer, Kimberly Farrer, Matthew Farrer, Jackson Farrer and Mallory Farrer. Mr. Farrer was preceded in death by loving wife, Pauline Nash Farrer, his brother Asa ’Buddy’ Farrer, and his sisters Tressie Hardy, Mary Chance, Doris Williford and Betty Ann Kemp.

Visitation with the family will take place 1 hour prior to service at COLE FUNERAL HOME 1544 UNIVERSITY PKWY (118 BYPASS) AIKEN, SC 29801 803-648-7175. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his name to Wounded Warrior Project (support.woundedwarriorproject.org) or Tunnel to Towers (t2t.org/donate/). The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude for the compassion and care provided by the staff on Palmetto Wing at NHC Health Care of North Augusta.
