Jeanine Gast passed from this life into the next on December 13, 2025. Her last years were not easy, as she was dealing with so many different health issues, but she was always kind and cooperative. She was a courageous woman.
She was born in Logan, Ohio, in a very large family on November 18, 1929. She had 10 siblings, but was sadly aware that she was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Jeanine was a woman of faith, ready to minister to others, and confident of what the Lord had done for her. She was a gifted speaker and was in demand as a presenter for women’s conferences. She was also a prayer warrior, eager to intercede for others in need. She was married to John Gast, a Lutheran minister, and was a part of his ministry team. She and John had four children, Lynn, married to Shane Stewart, with four children and 4 grandchildren; David, with 7 children and 8 grandchildren; Michael, married to Teri, with 1 son and 3 grandchildren; and Nathan, married to Jennifer, with 2 children. Jeanine loved her children, her grandchildren and her great grandchildren. She tracked birthdays and the events of their daily lives and loved to hear the latest news.
Everywhere she lived, she made friends, good friends. With John’s life work as a pastor, the family made their home in different cities, and each place they lived, Jeanine left friends with whom she maintained contact. Every town she called home became the focus of her energies and attention. She became involved. In Aiken, she was a part of Warm Up America, creating comforting afghans for those in need because of fires or other tragedies.
Jeanine will be greatly missed, both for her impish humor and for her deep love for Jesus and her family. She was a blessing to all who knew her.
A celebration of her life will be held at Calvary Chapel, 1411 Pine Log Road of Aiken on January 17, 2026 at 2:00 PM. A graveside service will also be held at the historic Marion Cemetery in Marion, Ohio, and will be announced at a later date.
