James “Jim” T. Hurt

Graniteville, SC—A celebration of life service for Mr. James “Jim” T. Hurt, age 80, will be held 1:00 PM Thursday March 29, 2018 at Christian Heritage Church with Pastor Stephen Phillips and Pastor Jonathan Randall officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Graniteville, SC with military honors accorded by the U.S. Naval Ceremonial Team. Mr. Hurt entered into rest at his home on Sunday March 25, 2018. He was a native of Augusta, GA and made Aiken County his home all his life. He was beloved husband of 60 years to Mrs. Evelyn Crumpton Hurt and a son of the late Mr. Alvin J. Hurt and the late Mrs. Florence A. Zorn Hurt. Mr. Hurt retired in 1999 from the Power Equipment Corporation at the Savannah River Site after many years of service. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and a  member of Christian Heritage Church. Additional survivors include two sisters: Barbara (Robert) Wright, Aiken and Linda (Wayne) Ellington, Grovetown, GA; three nephews: Robert Crumpton, Belvedere, SC, Jimmy Crumpton, Graniteville, and DeWight Crumpton, Williamston, SC; and several other nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Guy McGahee, Nathan McGahee, Joshua McGahee,  Sammy Sanchez, Leonard Barns , and Pastor Jody Padgett. The family suggests that memorials be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital at www.stjude.org.
