James Alfred Moyer

Aiken, - Mr. James Alfred Moyer passed away on January 27, 2023, at Augusta University Health hospital, in Augusta GA.  James was preceded in death by his wife Pansy H. Moyer, his parents, Leland H. Moyer, Sr and Onie Ripley Moyer, his son David Bruce Moyer, Grandson, Larry R. (Bobby) Moyer, his siblings, Leland H. Moyer, Jr. and Kathryn Couch. Mr. Moyer was born in Miami, Florida but lived 95 years in Aiken County where his parents were born.  James served in World War II where he received several awards for his service.  Mr. Moyer was a charter member of Marion Street Baptist Church and alongside his wife Pansy helped build the church.  James taught Sunday School, was Chairman of the Board of Decans, Leader of the Royal Ambassadors, sang in the church choir and the Cotton Christian Choir.  He was a member of Woodman of the World. Mr. Moyer worked at the Savannah River Site in Operations before opening “Jimmy’s Trim Shop” in 1957, in Aiken, SC specializing in auto upholstery for cars and boats.  He operated Jimmy’s Trim Shop for over 63 years.  Mr. Moyer is survived by his daughter Jane M. Curry (Sidney) of Evans, Georgia, and Larry A. Moyer (Patricia) of Aiken, SC, daughter-in-law Miriam Moyer (Bruce), and one brother C. Alton Moyer (Maggie), of North Augusta, SC.  Mr. Moyer has 10 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, 23 great-great-children, 2 great-great-great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. The pallbearers will be Blake McKenzie, Micah McKenzie, Thomas Moyer, Neil Moyer, Eddie Barber, Bobby Carpenter.  Honorary pallbearers will be Donnie Graves and Mike Murphy. Donations can be made to the American Cancer Society, the Golden Harvest Food Bank, and the Wounded Warrior Project.  The family will receive friends at Cole Funeral Home, Aiken, SC from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM on Tuesday, January 31, 2023.  Funeral services will be Wednesday, February 1, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Cole Funeral Home, Aiken, SC with burial in Bethany Cemetery, Aiken, SC
