Mr. James Larry Chatfield

Aiken, SC—Mr. James Larry Chatfield, age 75, entered into rest on Tuesday March 24, 2026, at his residence. He was the beloved husband to Mrs. Carrie Lou Chatfield and the son to the late Mr. James Lafayette Chatfield and the late Rose Mary Coffman. Mr. Chatfield was born in McArthur, OH, but had made the Aiken area his home for the last nine years. He worked at SRS as a nuclear engineer. Mr. Chatfield loved Rock n Roll, spending his time listening to Whitesnake and Judas Priest. He even played drums in a band during his time in Arizona. He loved watching various sports and cheered on many teams including Ohio State, Cleveland Browns, and the Chicago Cubs. During his down time, Mr. Chatfield enjoyed reading books by his favorite authors John Grisham and John Sanford. He was a civil war history buff, and enjoyed traveling to see historical landmarks, forts, and ships. He was loved by his friends and family and will be deeply missed. Additional survivors include: one son James (Ireland McDowell-Chatfield) Lucas Chatfield, Canyon City, CO; one daughter Melissa (Justin) Fassler, Canyon City, CO; three step-daughters Crystal Durham, Mountain Home, ID, Jennifer (Elliott) Ann Lawrence, Little Elm, TX, and Nicole DeRouchey, Aiken, SC; one sister Emmie Chatfield, Lancaster, OH; nine grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren.
