Mr. James Donald “Jimmy” Canepa, Jr.
Aiken—A celebration of life service for Mr. James Donald “Jimmy” Canepa, Jr. age 48 will be held 4:00 pm Tuesday, September 22, 2015 at Shiloh Baptist Church with Rev. Jason Redd and Rev. Dr. Henry L. Chenault officiating. Interment will follow in the Church cemetery. Mr. Canepa will be placed in the church one hour prior to services. Honor Guard will be the Eureka Volunteer Fire Department.
Mr. Canepa entered into rest peacefully Friday, September 18, 2015 at his residence. He was a native and a lifelong resident of Aiken County. He was the beloved husband of 26 years to Mrs. Angela Cockrell Canepa, and the son of Mr. James Donald Canepa, Sr., Lake Murray, and the late Mrs. Candice Foster Canepa.
Mr. Canepa was a former member and employee of Redds Branch Baptist Church where he held multiple positions. The Food Bank was a very important ministry to him at Redds Branch Baptist Church. He was over Victory Sports here in Aiken which involved Basketball, T-Ball and Soccer. Mr. Canepa Coached and played Softball in the church league for many years. He held the position of assistant fire chief and the office of treasurer for the Eureka Volunteer Fire Department, and was a volunteer fireman for over 25 years. Mr. Canepa was an active member of Shiloh Baptist Church. Jimmy was known and loved by many in the Aiken community, and will be dearly missed.
Additional survivors include two sons, Glenn Canepa, Aiken, Stephen Canepa, Aiken; one daughter, Jewelynn Canepa, Aiken; one brother, Thomas (Maria) Canepa, Lexington, SC; one sister Kathy (Tom) Emerson, Aiken; his step mother Mrs. Linda Canepa, Lake Murray; his paternal grandmother, Maurine P. Canepa, Aiken. He was predeceased by his maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Foster and his paternal grandfather, Elver Canepa.
Pallbearers will be Michael Zielinski, Keith Griffin, Russell Rogers, Chad Auvenshine, Jimmy Corbett, and Michael Hall. Honorary pallbearers are Robbie Kessiah, Drew Sapp, Jeff Hadden, Claude Free, Ben Ayers, and Bryon Kersh.
In lieu of flowers memorials are to be made to the college fund for Glenn, Stephen and Jewelynn Canepa in C/O their mother, Mrs. Angela C. Canepa.
The family would like to express a special thank you to Trinity Hospice for the care and compassion that was given to Jimmy during his illness.
