New Ellenton, SC--A celebration of life service for Mrs. Ida Lou Thompson Gay, age 76 will be held 2:00 pm Wednesday December 20, 2017 at Grace Covenant Church of God, New Ellenton, SC with Pastor Edgar N. Foster Sr. officiating.   A graveside service will be held 2:00 pm Thursday December 21st 2017 at Mt. Moriah United Methodist Church Cemetery, Lyons, GA with a viewing from 1:00 pm till time of services. Mrs. Gay entered into rest Friday December 15, 2017 at Aiken Regional Medical Centers. She was the beloved wife of  56 years to Roger Gay and a daughter of the late Mr. Woodrow Thompson and the late Mrs. Louise Knies Thompson.  Mrs. Gay was born in Vidalia, GA and had made Aiken County her home for the past 32 years.   She was an active member of Grace Covenant Church of God in New Ellenton, SC.  Additional survivors include one son, David Allen (Sharon) Gay, Aiken; two sisters, Judy (Ronnie) Bryant, Guyton, GA, Katherine Thompson, New Ellenton,  SC; one grandchild, Karen Leigh Gay and one great grandchild, Jett Orion Gay.  Mrs. Gay was also predeceased by one brother, William F. Thompson and one sister, Peggy Ann Riner.  In lieu of flowers the family has suggested that memorials be made to the Shriners  Hospital for Children, 950 W. Faris Road, Greenville, SC 29605.  Pallbearers will be Jimmy Warren, Hunter Draeger, Dakota Draeger, Buddy Jacoby, Christopher Warren, and Josh Houser.  A visitation with the family will take place 6-8 pm Tuesday, December 19, at COLE FUNERAL HOME 1544 UNIVERSITY PARKWAY (118 BY PASS) AIKEN, SC, 29801. 803-648-7175.
