Mr. George Duncan Barnes, Jr.
Aiken—A celebration of life service for Mr. George Duncan Barnes, Jr. will be held 2:00 pm Tuesday, December 22, 2015 at Cole Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Wesley Greene officiating. Interment will follow in Southlawn Cemetery.
Mr. Barnes entered into rest Thursday, December 17, 2015 at his residence. He was the beloved husband of Mrs. Taressa Fowler Barnes, Aiken, and the son of Mr. George Duncan Barnes, Sr., Aiken, and the late Mrs. Frances Thompson Barnes.
Mr. Barnes was a native of Wilmington, NC and had made Aiken County his home for the past 39 years. He was a 1976 graduate of Aiken High School, a 1986 graduate of United Truck Masters where he earned his CDL certificate, and a 2012 graduate of Aiken Technical College where earned his certification as a fork lift driver. Mr. Barnes was an avid University of North Carolina Tarheel fan, he was very much into drag strip racing where he frequently attended the Jackson Drag Strip and also viewed it on Television, and watched many videos of Drag Strip Racing. Gardening and working of cars was also an active past time for him to enjoy. Mr. Barnes will be missed by his wife, children, family, and friends very much. He was of the Baptist faith.
Additional survivors include two sons, Justin William Barnes and Michael Allen Barnes, both of Aiken; two brothers, Barry Alan Barnes, Maumelle, Arkansas, Randall Lee Barnes, Austin, Arkansas; one sister, Laurie Barnes ( Tony ) Rollins, Aiken.
The family has suggested that memorials be made to the American Heart Association 190 Knox Abbott Drive, Suite 301, Columbia, SC 29033 or to the American Diabetes Association 1701 North Beauregard Street, Alexandra, VA 22311.
Pallbearers will be Justin Barnes, Michael Barnes, Tony Rollins, Anthony Rollins.
