Mrs. Evelyn Phillips Roberts
Aiken, SC--A celebration of life service for Mrs. Evelyn Phillips Roberts, age 83 will be held 11:00 am Thursday March 9, 2017 at Cole Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Phillip Crocker, Rev. Keith Crocker, Rev. Susan Allen, and Rev. Eddie Crocker officiating.  Interment will follow in Aiken Memorial Park.  Mrs. Roberts entered into rest Monday March 6, 2017 at her residence. She was a native of Ware Shoals, SC and has had made Aiken County her home for the past 50 years.   Mrs. Roberts was the beloved wife of the late Rev. Virgle Leroy Roberts and a daughter of the late Rev. John Frank Phillips and the late Mrs. Margie Dickerson Phillips. God gave her the gift of playing the piano, and she used that gift as serving as church pianist at the churches that her husband pastored throughout the years being their last church was the Church of God of Prophecy, Gloverville, SC.  Mrs. Roberts was the operations manager at Roses Department Store, Aiken having retired in 1992 with 20 years of service.   She was an active member of the Church of God of Prophecy, Gloverville. Survivors include four daughters, Wanda Smart, Lexington, Donna Kay Roberts, Aiken, Lynn (Mark) Rabel, West Columbia, Sheryl (Fiance' Christopher Antwine) Roberts, Bath; seven grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.  Mrs. Roberts was also predeceased by two sons, Marcus Wayne Roberts, Virgle Dale Roberts, and one sister, Julia Ann Gilstrap.  Pallbearers will be Jason Higgenbottom, Bryan Lawson, Tim Roberts, Anthony Romero, Brad Prothman-Roberts, and Christopher Antwine.  The family suggests that memorials be made to the Church of God of Prophecy,  124 Daley Drive, Warrenville, SC 29851.
