Edward Lee Jones, age 78, entered into rest on Monday December 21, 2020, at Aiken Regional Medical Centers. He was the beloved husband of Mrs. Dianne Stewart Jones and the son of the late Mr. Judd Jones and Mrs. Vena McGuire Jones of Banner Elk, NC. Mr. Jones was a native of Beech Mountain, NC and had made Aiken his home since 1960. He was a faithful member of Lighthouse Baptist Church. Mr. Jones worked for 33 years at Owings Corning Fiberglass where he retired in 1992. After retirement, he started up Ed's Odd Jobs where he had worked until 2015. Mr. Jones played bass guitar for church services at Lighthouse Baptist Church for a number of years and lead guitar for his band Smooth Country from 1960-2020. His hobbies included hunting and fishing. Additional survivors include: 3 sons Barry Jones Minneapolis, NC, James W. Jones, Cranberry, NC, and Jason Jones, Aiken; 3 daughters Karla (Jon) Holdren Spruce Pine, NC, Christy Jones, Graniteville, and Leigh Anne Jones, Graniteville; one brother Dickie G. Jones, Cranberry, NC; 6 step children; 23 grandchildren; and 8 great grandchildren. Mr. Jones was preceded in death by 3 brothers Lane, Harley, and Alfred Jones. Mr. Jones has been conveyed to Elk, NC for services and burial, 3:00 pm Wednesday December 30, 2020 at Fall Creek Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, the family has suggested that memorials be made to Lighthouse Baptist Church Building Fund 2094 Columbia Hwy N Aiken, SC 29805.
