Edward Bryant Butler
Aiken, SC-- Edward Bryant Butler, 83 of Aiken, South Carolina passed peacefully on Saturday, September 6th, 2025. Ed was born in Sparta, Tennessee on October 15th, 1941, the son of Mr. Albert Butler and Mrs. Sarah Halliburton Tankersley Butler. He attended the Military College of Florida. Ed proudly served in the United States Army. During his military career he served numerous commands and staff assignments, both in the US and overseas to include Korea. He later worked in Houston, Texas and then in San Diego, California where he was a talented Draftsman for Hewlett Packard. He was an avid reader and acquired his first-class amateur radio license from the United States of America Federal Communication Commission. He thoroughly enjoyed the outdoors, especially hiking in the National Parks where he became a gifted photographer. He'll be remembered for his kind heart and will be greatly missed. Ed was predeceased by his parents and beloved niece, Leigh Wren Butler. He is survived by his brother, Mr. James (Merry) Butler of Ballentine, South Carolina. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 2:00pm on Friday, September 12th, 2025 at Cole Funeral Home Chapel where military honors will be accorded by the United States Army Ceremonial Team. A private interment will be held at Graniteville Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, with Ed's fondness of cats, donations may be made to the SPCA Albrecht Center for Animal Welfare, 199 Willow Run Road, Aiken, South Carolina, 29801.
