Mr. Douglas Edward Widener
Aiken, SC--A celebration of life service for Mr. Douglas Widener, age 51, will be held 3:00 pm Saturday January 26, 2019 at Cole Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Ashley Hawkins officiating. Interment will follow at Vaucluse Cemetery. Mr. Douglas entered into rest Tuesday January 22, 2019 at Aiken Regional Medical Centers. He was the son of Mr. Edward Hewey Widener, and Mrs. Brenda Joyce Key Widener. Mr. Douglas was a native of Aiken and had made Aiken his home for his entire life. He attended Banner of Love Holiness Church, was involved with landscaping for Woodside Plantation for the past year, and had been a supervisor of Amick's Farm for seven years. Mr. Douglas' main hobby was NASCAR racing. Additional survivors include: one daughter Marina Widener, North Augusta; two brothers Haskell "Hewey" Widener, Rome, GA and Justin Douglas Widener, Aiken; three sisters Angela Widener, Aiken, Kimberly Wilhelm, Evans, GA, and Wanda Widener Thompson, North Augusta; 7 grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Widener was predeceased by one sister, Donna Turner, maternal grandparents Haskell and Bryce Key, and his paternal grandparents Albert and Lila Widener. Pallbearers will be Larry Lamb, Matthew Widener, Justin Widener, Nathan Widener, Rodney Chavis, Brandon Cordell, and Phil Hatcher. A visitation with the family will begin at 1:00 pm Saturday before the service at COLE FUNERAL HOME 1544 UNIVERSITY PARKWAY (118 BY-PASS) AIKEN, SC 29801 803-648-7175.
