Obituary for D. Joyce Wilson
Mrs. Dempsey Joyce Bennett Wilson, 80, of Aiken, wife of Jerry Milton Wilson, and daughter of the late Bertha B. Sanders and Harry Ceaphous Bennett of Graniteville entered into rest on February 9, 2022. She is survived by her son, Jerry Greg Wilson; adopted daughter, Monique White (Mark); step children Michael Wilson (Susan) and Julie Wilson (Charles); 9 grandchildren; siblings Patsy Busbee (Delmas), Rudy Bennett (Marsha), Vivian Cook (Leonard), and Kirk Bennett (Lynne); and 8 special nieces and nephews.
Joyce was born in Graniteville, South Carolina but lived in Germany and other parts of the United States, including Montana and Kentucky, before returning to Aiken to raise her family. Her passion for reading, music, art, and creative instruction led to teaching an adult Sunday School class for the Warrenville Revival Center and New Covenant Praise Church. As a profession, she taught the children at The Sunshine House in Aiken, where she retired.
The family will receive friends 6-8 pm Friday February 11, 2022 at Cole Funeral Home. A celebration of life service will be held 2:00 pm Saturday February 12, 2022 at Cole Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor's Kenneth Murphy and Todd Cook officiating. Burial will follow in Graniteville’s Historic Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Brian Bennett, Matthew Brantley, Brent Wilson, Terry Stewart, Harrison Wood, and Keith Wood.
