Rev. David Maurice Smith, Jr.
Aiken—A celebration of life service for Rev. David Maurice Smith, Jr., age 78, will be held 11:00 am Monday, May 26, 2014 at Bethel Baptist Church, Monetta, SC with Rev. Joshua Davidson, Dr. Roy Head, and Dr. Mitch Kyllonen officiating. A private interment will follow in Graniteville Cemetery.
Rev. Smith was a native of Attapulgus, GA and Had made Aiken County his home for the past several years. He was the beloved husband of 57 years to Mrs. Faye Walton Smith of Aiken and son of the late Mr. David Maurice Smith, Sr. and the late Mrs. Ruthy Mae Worthington Smith.
Rev. Smith loved his family and his Lord, whom he served as a pastor in South Carolina, North Carolina, and Georgia for 53 years. He Retired in 1998 as Pastor from Bethel Baptist Church, Monetta, SC. Rev. Smith was a graduate of Baptist College of Charleston with a BA degree and then graduated with a Master of Divinity degree from Southeastern Theological Baptist Seminary, Wake Forrest, NC. Rev. Smith was the Director of Missions of the Ridge Baptist Association and was a member of Bethel Baptist Church, Monetta, SC.
Additional survivors include three sons, David Maurice “Marty” (Sherry) Smith, III, Cairo, GA, Wray Walton “Wally” (Tese) Smith, Cairo, GA, Rev. Von Erik (Brenda) Smith, Louisville, KY; one daughter, Alysa Rene' Smith, Savannah, GA; one sister, Ruthy (Bill) Stevens, Tulsa, OK; seven grandchildren, Michael (Shelley) Smith, Paige (Jeremey) Banks, Eric Smith, Amber (Fiance’ Brian Tull) Smith, Von, Jr. Smith, Mitchell Smith, and Drew Smith; five great grandchildren, Mikalyn, Smith, Jessi Heady, Elly Thompson, Benjamin Smith, Mary Jane Tull. Rev. Smith was predeceased by three sisters, Martha Nell Reeves, Carey Will Herron, and Vonceil Head.

Honorary pallbearers will be Ministers of the Ridge Baptist Association.
