Brenda Jean Sturkie Holtzclaw
Aiken, SC—A celebration of life service for Mrs. Brenda Jean Sturkie Holtzclaw, age 73, will be held 1:00 pm Tuesday November 30, 2021 at Millbrook Baptist Church with Rev. Bill Howard and Rev. Stephen Cannon officiating. Pallbearers will be Brian Raborn, Zachary Stone, Nathan Raborn, Stan Harmon, Billy Pierce, and Clay Pearson. Honorary Pallbearers will be The Houston Brown Sunday School Class. A private interment will be held at Southlawn Cemetery following the service. Mrs. Holtzclaw entered into rest Friday November 26, 2021 at her residence. She was the beloved wife of 56 years to Mr. Ronny O. Holtzclaw and the daughter of the late Mr. Allen G. Sturkie and the late Mrs. Cleo Gunter Sturkie. Mrs. Holtzclaw was a native and lifelong resident of Aiken. She was of the Baptist faith and was a member of Millbrook Baptist Church where she was a greeter at the nursery door. Mrs. Holtzclaw loved the Word of God and was a good witness for the Lord. She served as a supervisor in the food division of the Aiken County School District for 32 years, retiring in 2004. Her hobbies included fishing, gardening, cooking, and flowers. Additional survivors include: two daughters Angie (David) Sizemore, Aiken, and Wendy (Tracy) Raborn, Aiken; two brothers Allen (Mozell) Sturkie, Aiken, and Larry (Norma) Sturkie, Aiken; two sisters Marie Smith, Aiken, and Ann (D.E.) Shumpert, West Columbia; four grandchildren, Zachary Stone, Ashley Hope, Brian Raborn, and Nathan Raborn; and two great grandchildren Kaidence Tucker and Emmalin Hope. Mrs. Holtzclaw was preceded in death by two sisters Gussie Arban and Sara Brasher. A visitation with the family will take place 11 am-1 pm Tuesday November 30, 2021 at Millbrook Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorials be made to Parsons Pantry 262 E. Gate Dr. Aiken, SC 29803, parsonspantry.org. Due to Covid, it is suggested that masks be worn and social distancing be observed. The service will be live streamed on the Cole Funeral Home Facebook page.
