Beech Island, SC—A celebration of life service for Mr. Billy Ray Padgett, age 77, will be held 1:00 PM Saturday September 11, 2021 at Grace Covenant Church of God with Rev. Edgar N. Foster, Sr. officiating. Military Honors will be accorded by the U.S. Naval Ceremonial Team. A visitation with the family will follow. Mr. Padgett entered into rest on Saturday September 4, 2021 at Pruitt Health of Augusta. He was the beloved husband of the late Mrs. Sarah Godwin Padgett and the son of the late Mr. Johnny C. Padgett and the lat Mrs. Eula Ray Eidson. Mr. Padgett was an Aiken native, but had spent nearly 45 years in Plant City, FL before returning to Aiken for the last six years. He was a Christian and attended Grace Covenant Church of God. Mr. Padgett was a veteran of the United States Navy. He worked as a security officer with 50 years of service for Walmart in Plant City, FL. Survivors include: Roger Padgett, Clearwater Beach, FL, Ronnie Padgett, Graniteville, Lee (Donna0 Smith, Beech Island, and Richard Smith, Beech Island; twelve grandchildren; and six great grandchildren. Mr. Padgett was preceded in death by one sister Margaret Morrison. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorials be made to American Legion Post 71, 333 E Spring Grove Ave, North Augusta, SC 29841. Due to Covid, masks and social distancing are requested. The service will be live streamed on the Cole Funeral Home Facebook page.
