Mr. Barry Arthur O’Conner
Graniteville—A celebration of life visitation for Mr. Barry Arthur O’Conner age 49, will be held 1:00-4:00 pm Monday, April 4, 2016 at Valley Fair Baptist Church, Graniteville. His body will be placed in the Church at 1:00 pm.  Interment will be held at a later date at Ft. Jackson National Cemetery with Military Honors.
Mr. O’Conner entered into rest Monday, March 30, 2016 at Aiken Regional Medical Centers. He was a native of and a lifelong residence of Aiken County other than living in the Baltimore Maryland area for a brief time. He was the son of Mr. William O’Conner and Mrs. Lila Simpkins O’Conner of Graniteville.  Mr. O’Conner was a 1984 graduate of Midland Valley High School and later received a degree as a License Practical Nurse from Aiken Technical College. He also attended college in Hilton Head, SC.   He had been associated with Mattie C. Hall Nursing Home until his disability.  Mr. O’Conner served his country in the U.S. Army National Guard. Barry will be remembered as a friend to many. He was an expert cook, an adventurous man, and loved to travel. At an early age he became a member of Valley Fair Baptist Church in Graniteville then later joined the Reedy Branch Baptist Church. He was ordained as a minister at Reedy Branch Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Dr. Jasper Lloyd, Sr. then later joined Providence Baptist Church, Baltimore, Maryland where he served as the Youth Minister.
Additional survivors include two daughters, Tanikie O’Conner, and Mesha O’Conner, Trenton; one sister, Regina “Joseph" Newman, Acworth, GA; one stepson, Hamilton Jermaine Glover, Jackson; one niece Jada Simone Newman, Acworth, GA; one nephew, William Joseph Newman, Acworth, GA; one god brother, Brad Carroll, Aiken, and a host of relatives and friends. His former wife, Lesa Speller, Trenton, SC.
Flowers may be delivered to Valley Fair Baptist Church Monday, April 4, 2016 at 1:00 pm.
