Andrew "Andy" Troy McCollum
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved Andrew "Andy" Troy McCollum,
age 38, who joined the choir of angels on Wednesday, March 13, 2024. Andy's radiant spirit
touched the lives of all who knew him, leaving a legacy of love and joy in his wake.
Andy was an artist of the soul, weaving melodies of happiness and compassion wherever
he went. Born in Denver, CO, Andy found his true roots in Orangevale, where he grew up
surrounded by the warmth of Northern California. His recent move to Lexington, South
Carolina in October 2023 brought him new horizons and adventures.
Son of Mr. Gary McCollum and Mrs. Brenda Franklin McCollum, Andy was a cherished
member of St. Mel Catholic Church in Fair Oaks, CA. He graduated from Bella Vista High
School in Fair Oaks in 2004, performing and singing his way to adulthood. Andy's passion
for culinary arts led him to graduate from the Cordon Bleu Culinary School in Sacramento,
CA, igniting a career path that ultimately led him to find fulfillment as a butcher at Lowes
Food, where he served as Assistant Pitmaster.
But Andy's impact extended far beyond his professional endeavors. His heart overflowed
with love for everyone he encountered, from fleeting acquaintances to lifelong friends,
leaving an indelible mark of kindness on all who crossed his path. He loved nothing more
than spoiling his niece and nephew, playing all night Nintendo Switch or spending all day
playing games at Incredible John’s pizza.
Sing on, dance on, and relax with those angels above; we will carry your spirit forward to all
those who need a little joy, laughter, and a hug.
Andy is survived by his loving family: one brother and sister-in-law, Douglas and Stephanie
McCollum of Roseville, CA; one sister, Stephanie McCollum of Lexington, SC; one niece,
Jane McCollum; and one nephew, Bennet McCollum.
A memorial service and celebration of Andy's life will be held on Monday, April 22nd, at St.
Mel Parish in Fair Oaks, California. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that
donations be made to The Painted Turtle, a summer camp dedicated to those with special
needs, a cause dear to Andy's heart.
In his memory, let us strive to spread the same love and joy that Andy so effortlessly shared
with the world.
