Mr. Ander Vernon “Woody” Woodward, Sr.
Aiken-A celebration of life service for Mr. Ander Vernon “Woody” Woodward, Sr., age 90, will be held 4:00 pm Friday, July 1, 2016 at Cole Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Alan Palmer officiating. Interment will follow in Vaucluse Cemetery with Military honors accorded by the U.S. States Army ceremonial team.
Mr. Woodward entered into rest peacefully at his residence, Monday, June 27, 2016. He was a native and a life long resident of Aiken County. Mr. Woodward was the husband of the late Mrs. Mattie Hall Woodward and a son of the late Mr. Edward Woodward and the late Mrs. Eunice Hydrick Woodward. He was employed by the Graniteville Company Gregg Dye Plant as a mechanic retiring in 1989 with 45 years of service. After that Mr. Woodward Spent 15 years as a site attendee at the New Holland and Hwy 39 sites for Aiken County. Mr. Woodward was a veteran of WWII having served in the U.S. States Army. He was a member of Vaucluse Baptist Church, Vaucluse, and attended East Side Baptist Church, Couchton.
Survivors include a daughter, Gloria Scott ( James Seigler), New Holland; daughter-in-law, Pamela Woodward, New Holland; a brother, Louie Woodward, Jackson, MS; four grandchildren, Bill (Jamie) Mason, Paula (Chris) Sturkie, Ander Shawn (Sally) Woodward, and Candi (Nick) DesRosher; fourteen great grandchildren, and six great great grandchildren; Mr. Woodward was also predeceased by one son, Ander Vernon Woodward, Jr., one grandson, Dale Mason, two brothers, Allen and James Woodward.
Pallbearers will be Michael Sturkie, Philip Woodward, Kody Mason, Kaleb Mason, Chris Mason, James Woodward, and Henry Woodward.
The family suggest that in lieu of flowers memorials may be made to East Side Baptist Church, 3351 Wagener Road, Aiken, SC 29801.
